This report is aimed at investigating the recycling difficulties of crosslinked polymers used in the automotive industry. These polymers have been extensively used in products like tires, seals, and coatings due to their long, lasting nature, heat resistance, and mechanical strength. Due to their crosslinked nature, these materials tend to make recycling improbable, resulting in continuous waste accumulation. We will take a look at the various limitations and cover the challenges in converting these crosslinked materials into value added products after recycling. Additionally, this report will address the environmental concerns related to disposal and assess emerging technologies, including vitrimer-based solutions and selective bond cleaving methods, that may provide innovative solutions to these challenges and advance sustainable practices in automotive manufacturing
