Deficiency of fresh water is now listed among the most critical problems that become worse by rising population as well as globalization and industrialization trends. This review article provides an extensive evaluation of preparation, applications, and other processes, apart from a discussion on the strengths and weaknesses of each method and the costs and economic factors involved in the synthesis and application of zeolite-based composites for wastewater treatment. The integration of zeolites in treating wastewater in the concept of adsorption is well explored. This review offers a detailed discussion on regeneration of the fly ash-based zeolite composites for the effective treatment of pollutants and other practices associated with wastewater treatment. Both the economic and environmental studies provide effectiveness of applying fly ash-based zeolite in the wastewater treatment. And addition of some insights of the current knowledge on fly ash-based zeolite nanocomposites, towards efficient and environment friendly approach towards wastewater treatment.
