The increasing complexity of SAP enterprise landscapes — spanning on-premises NetWeaver stacks, cloud-deployed SAP S/4HANA systems, and Business Technology Platform (BTP) environments — has created an urgent operational challenge for SAP Basis administrators. Managing runtime services such as Apache Tomcat embedded within SAP’s Java Application Server requires constant vigilance against memory exhaustion, thread pool saturation, and classloader failures. Conventional operational approaches rely on either manual monitoring or rigid, rule-based automation pipelines that lack contextual intelligence. This paper proposes and rigorously evaluates a novel hybrid reference architecture that combines Jenkins CI/CD pipeline automation with AIOps (Artificial Intelligence for IT Operations) platforms to create an intelligent, self-healing SAP Basis operational framework. The architecture introduces a five-layer model spanning SAP runtime telemetry ingestion, observability normalization, AIOps-driven anomaly detection, Jenkins orchestration, and autonomous remediation execution. Using Apache Tomcat log monitoring and automated restart orchestration as the primary demonstration use case, the proposed system is evaluated against Jenkins-only and AIOps-only baselines across key operational metrics. Experimental results demonstrate that the hybrid architecture reduces Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) by 89%, reduces Mean Time to Restore (MTTR) by 77%, and reduces the false-positive remediation rate by 77% compared to Jenkins-only automation. The architecture achieves 94% automation coverage while maintaining full ITIL compliance through Jenkins’ native audit trail capability. This research contributes a reproducible integration pattern, a confidence-threshold calibration model for multi-environment SAP deployments, and a Tomcat error taxonomy that bridges IT operations research with SAP Basis engineering practice.
